Mardi Himal Trek
Description
If you’re relatively “trekking-fit” and eager to reach the 4000m mark within a few days from Pokhara, then the Mardi Himal Trek is your best option. This trek offers an incredible panorama of snow-capped summits, especially the sublime Fishtail Mountain (Machapuchare), and regular sightings of diverse Himalayan flora and fauna, including five different types of rhododendrons and furry yaks. Along the way, you’ll stay in cozy tea-houses run by friendly locals, ensuring a warm and authentic experience. The trek leading to the Upper View Point (4200m) or the Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500m) can be completed within five days, without compromising on safety or any aspect of a balanced trekking adventure.
Itinerary
Day 1: Pokhara drive to the beautiful village of Dhampus (2150 m); Trek to Forest Camp (2550m)
Total drive: 50 minutes; Total hike: 6 hours; maximum altitude: 2550 m
Overnight in a local lodge ; full board included
Day 2: Forest Camp to High Camp (3650 m) via 3 different panoramic settlements and rhododendron forest and Himalayan grasslands Total hike: 5 hours; maximum altitude: 3650m
Overnight in a local lodge; full board included
Day 3: Morning hike to Mardi Upper view point (4200m) or Mardi Base Camp (4500m)* and back to Badal Danda (3210 m)
Total Hike: 6 hours; maximum altitude: 4200m or 4500m*

* Whether you will go to the base camp or not depends on weather and snow conditions as the path from the view point to the base camp ,especially during the snow, is slippery and susceptible to accidents. Besides, the view from the two places is almost similar and by the time you get to the base camp, it can get cloudy making the whole extra walk useless. However, if your guide judges that the conditions are favorable to get to the higher point and if you feel like, you may continue further.
Day 4: Badal Danda to Pittam Deurali (2150 m)
Total hike: 4 to 5 hours; maximum altitude: 3210m (start)

Day 5: Pittam Deurali to Kande (1750m); Drive to Pokhara
Total hike: 3 hours; total drive: 45 minutes; maximum altitude: 2150m (start)
